CREEEEEAK-CRACK!

Vidar wasn't kidding, the door literally exploded off the hinges and came to rest on the floor of Frigg's room in multiple pieces. Three knights, dressed in the colors of House Asgard (which, coincidently, were the new realm colors); two of them carried large lances, the third holding a broadsword.

Behind them stood an extremely irritated Vidar, his arms crossed over his chest, the journal sitting in his right hand. His fingertips tapped the leather cover out of annoyance, stepping through what was once a doorway and into the room.

If looks could kill, the room would have been covered in daggers a thousand times over.

Frigg blinked at the space her door used to be, dumbfounded. He couldn't have waited, no? He had to tear the entire door of the hinges, huh?

"If you'd given me a moment, I would have opened it for you, Bristle Britches." She slowly closed her journal and set it down, rising to meet him. Moments before she'd told Rylan to hide himself, and didn't dare to look around the room to see if he'd done so. She trusted he would.. or at least give a fine effort at dodging lances and broadswords.

Rylan, at least, had enough sense to hide. Well, at least temporarily. The door bursting open had startled him out of it, unfortunately, and thus he was just kind of...standing there. He had expected it to just be Vidar there, but no! His luck couldn't possibly be that good. It was Vidar.

And three knights.

And he was going to get his ass kicked or he was going to be executed or something and damn this wasn't going well.

But Rylan really didn't want to die... Death was a bad thing.

Oh, those knights had moved into a triangle formation around their Lord, and a fourth had now appeared, taking his place in the door. Looks like the only escape would be to go out the window -- and that fall wouldn't be a plesant one, either. More than likely the fall would break something, and well, that would make capture easier, wouldn't it?

Those ice blue eyes locked onto Rylan, and visably, Vidar's right eye twitched. As if to break the silence, Vidar gave a simple command.

"Arrest him. Now."

The lance knights moved the quickest, leaving Vidar to glare in Frigg's general direction. He was scrutinizing her, trying to decide what exactly he should do with her at this point. She'd brought someone into his home and hidden them from him. She wasn't even nobility, that much Vidar knew, so whoever this man was certainly wasn't anything more than she was.

"You have one minute to explain yourself, Mirm. If your answers do not please me, expect to find yourself in an accompanying cell."

The clock began ticking. 59. 58. 57...

"You so much as harm a hair on his head.." Frigg growled at the knights, the rest of her threat left unsaid at the mention of her name. Her real name. They'd made a deal about that..

Her jaw flexed as she clenched her teeth, deciding now was not the time or the place. She pulled herself up straight, forcing a civil tone. "That is my brother, Vidar. My apologies for now showing him off sooner, but I had a feeling you'd overreact."

She glanced over at the knights clinging to Rylan as if to reiterate her point. "I cant see I was right. Let him go and get someone to clean up this mess and we can all talk like civilised people."

Overreact? Oh hell yeah Vidar was overreacting somewhat... But, then again, were Rylan in Vidar's position, he was pretty sure he would have overreacted, too.

Rylan joined in the glaring game, shooting a rather poisoned look back at Vidar, figuring it was better to keep quiet until he was addressed specifically. He sighed and waited impatiently for the knights to let him go. Of course, that was providing Vidar told them to release him as Frigg asked...

Well. This whole thing was going to hell in a handbasket, wasn't it.

"Or you'll what?" The anger in Vidar's voice was quite obvious, and the distance between himself and the woman grew to mere inches rather quickly. "You bring this man into my home without so much as a word, without so much as telling me, and expect me to take this lightly? You should be so lucky that I do not remove his head from his shoulders."

He was moving again, towards Rylan now. He stopped before the young man, the knights moving instead to hold her "brother" in place. "What do you have to say for yourself? Don't give me one of those 'I'm Frigg's noble brother' bullshit stories, either, because I know who she is. Explain yourself if you care to continue breathing."

Sometimes it was best to bring things up before they spiraled out of control, especially with the Lord Protector.

"It's not my fault you act like a spoilt child! Hey!" He was walking away! She followed him to Rylan, the adrenaline and excitement making her feel a little dizzy.

"He is my brother!" Frigg grabbed one of Vidar's hands between both of hers, tugging. "Calm down."

Frigg had known it would turn out something like this. Yet, she was hopeful everyone would at least come out of it alive. Lightheaded, she tried to give Rylan an encouraging look. "Tell him."

Wait. She had the chance to sell him out and she didn't? Okay, then, fine. She wanted to stick with the brother story? Also fine as far as he cared. There was a chance that could keep him alive and, since dying wasn't really on the agenda, he was going to stay with it.

"She's telling the truth," he said after a moment, accent-less (at least one thing was going right). "I'm her brother." And I'd be more than happy to talk with you if you asked your knights to lighten up on the death grip... Though he didn't add that last thought (though he was extremely tempted to), he was matching Vidar's look perfectly. "My name's Lynar."

He wasn't entirely sure why the false name was the one that came out of his mouth rather than his real one, but, at this point? He didn't care. "I can't speak for my sister's actions, but I'm sure she had every intention of telling you of my arrival here..."

He pulled his hand away from Frigg's, looking between the two of them. They at least looked like they could be siblings, but things were not always as they appeared. His sneer had faded a little, but he was still angry.

"I'm sure. She seems to have had ample opportunity to do so and never did."

Vidar turned, heading back towards the door this time. He stopped near the doorway, looking over the frame. "I should bar this door and leave you both in here for a while, as a lesson."

"I was going to." Frigg let out a long breath she wasn't aware she'd been holding. He'd bought the story. "I was waiting for a right time. You're always so busy, I didn't think it would matter.."

She paused. Maybe that was the wrong thing to say. Glancing between Rylan and Vidar, she moved to the latter's side and took his hand again, trying her best to look contrite. "He hasn't done anything wrong, look. He's been here all this time and hasn't caused any trouble. I'm sorry I didn't tell you. At least let him go."

"I would," he paused long enough to at least stop glaring at Vidar, "greatly appreciate it if you called off your guards, Lord Asgard." And not kill me. That would be nice, too.

Vidar looked between them both, before he nodded and the knights fell away, stepping back over towards him. They then exited the room, though took a place in the hallway.

"You, Frigg, will still be allowed to come and go as you please." His eyes trailed away from her, over towards Rylan. "Lynar, you shall be kept under guard and for now, are not allowed outside of this estate. If you attempt to leave, I shall have you locked away for attempted treason, which is punishable by death. Do you understand?"

Vidar once again pulled his hand away from Frigg's, not falling for her charm. "You should know -- the moment that he is announced to the public as your brother, you no longer carry and power to the people. You will simply be seen as Lady Frigg and will no longer carry any public sway or opinion at the councils."

She hadn't thought about that, had she?

No, she hadn't thought of that. She hadn't known that.

Six months.

Six fucking months. All down the drain.

Her hand fell back to her side with a quiet thud. "You've got to be joking.."

"Yes, sir." Confined to the estate he could handle; after all, he had been locked up in Frigg's room for weeks.

But this last bit was new...

This wasn't going according to any plan whatsoever. Frigg was the only one out of the two of them who knew what was going on. He'd have to do basically what she had been doing for six months? No. Just... no.

"I'm not even really staying here for that long, Lord Asgard. Is there really any reason for my presence to be announced anywhere?"

"Kidding? Why would I kid?"

Suddenly, it should have been apparent that Vidar had an ace up his sleeve the entire time. He was holding the trump cards.

"There is only one family in Rune-Midgard where the female takes control, and that is the Vanaheim family. I'm afraid that if word gets out that Frigg has a brother -- one who is currently in Prontera of all places -- that the people may feel a bit lied to. They would have problems trusting any of the decisions that Lady Frigg has had a hand in, and would want her place in the Council removed..."

Vidar stepped into the hallway, his back to the two. The knights around him were straight-faced, but it was he who carried the slightest hint of a grin. "Lady Frigg, you forget what game you are playing."

It was apparent, and the realisation made her seethe. Vidar's back was turned, she could have stabbed him then. So precisely his heart would have bled - and it took every ounce of self control not to.

Not even having a door to slam in his face, she went to the bath instead, the door shutting with such a bang it rattled on its hinges. Moments later there was a high pitched scream of frustration, and the sound of something expensive breaking.

Fucking fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck!

Shit. This was his fault. Maybe things would just be better if he just left. Only he couldn't leave because Vidar had effectively confined him to the estate.

Of course, he could just do that moving-while-hiding thing Frigg had taught him, too... that could work.

He sighed, moving over to the nearest chair and sitting in it. No, that way would be far too complicated. There had to be some other way around this and he would have to think of it before Frigg got out the bath, otherwise she would more than likely stab him.
